How to provide one of our biggest clients with the best service possible

1 Overview

Our client conducts various market research interviews. The aim of the consultations/interviews is likely to collect information and opinions of certain medications and treatments from doctors, medical experts or/and patient as a part of a market research campaign.  

2 Translation

Context

The client has a list of questions (i.e. discussion guide) that he/she wants to ask an expert in an interview, along with stimuli slides to assist in the interview (see section 5 glossary for "stimuli"). This expert does not speak the same language as the questions are written in, and so both the discussion guide and the stimuli slides need to be translated into the expert’s language.

Based on the discussion guide, the client will later conduct an interview with the expert.

What you need to do

Translate the discussion guides and/or stimuli slides into the target language

Guideline

  • Provide a clean, one language translation (replace the translation directly with the source language in the document)
  • Keep all formatting, including highlights, text colors, tables, and diagrams as they are in the original
  • Sections labeled specifically for a region that is not of the language you are translating into do not need to be translated (e.g. [US ONLY] will not need to be translated into Japanese)
  • Do not delete the source language sections that are not being translated
  • Emphasis on accuracy of information and readability. These questions will be read out out loud to the expert, so they need to sound natural.
  • Upon completion, please send back the translation to bookings@cadencetranslate.com with the job number cited in your email.

3  Transcription 

Context

The client has a list of questions that he/she wants to ask the medical expert or patient. The questions are contained in a discussion guide, which Cadence will share with you upon your acceptance of the job.

Based on the discussion guide, the expert will be interviewed by the Athene staff, and the whole interview will be recorded.

What you need to do

Listen to the audio and write the transcript directly into the discussion guide provided. 

  • You do not need to create a new transcript, instead you MUST use the discussion guide we send you to write the transcript on.

Guideline

Fill in the answers the expert gives under each of the corresponding questions.  Do not delete, alter, or reformat the questions in any way.

  • Answers should be in the black color.  If the questions are also in black, highlight the original questions in bold and then leave the transcribed parts of the document in normal text.
  • The client may not ask all the questions in the same order as they are presented in the the discussion guide, but you should try and write the answers under the corresponding question.  If questions are not covered at all, then you can simply skip those questions but please do not delete them.
  • The transcription does NOT need to be verbatim, but please capture all the meaningful details. 
  • No filler words or small talk needed. (e.g. how are you? Like, you know etc.). Please avoid broken sentences too. 
  • If you come across a word you cannot hear clearly, please try your best to infer from the context. If there is no way you could get a word, mark it as [inaudible]. 
  • The client may ask follow up questions, which you should put in bold and in the same color as the other questions, as shown in the screenshot below:

4 Audio-to-text translation

Context

The client has a list of questions that he/she wants to ask the expert. The questions are contained in a discussion guide (in Word) or capture sheet (in Excel) which Cadence will share with you upon your acceptance of the job. 

Based on the discussion guide or capture sheet, the expert will be interviewed and the whole interview will be recorded.

What you need to do

You will need to listen to the recording of the interview, and translate the answers from the expert into English.

Guideline

  • You do not need to create a new transcript, instead you MUST use the discussion guide we send you to write the transcript on.
  • If a discussion guide (in Word) is used, translate the answers from the audio and write it under each corresponding question, as shown in the following picture:

  • If a capture sheet (in Excel) is used, translate the answers from the audio and write it in the corresponding blank section, as shown in the following picture:

  • The color of the answers should be black.
  • The translation does NOT need to be verbatim, but please capture all the meaningful details
  • No filler words or small talk needed. (e.g. how are you? Like, you know etc.). Please avoid broken sentences too. 
  • If you come across a word you cannot hear clearly, please try your best to infer from the context. If there is no way you could get a word, mark it as [inaudible].

5 Glossary of common terms

Payer: This refers to the 'payer' of the medications prescribed to patients, i.e. the insurer/health care plan provider or government institution in charge of paying for the drugs and/or reimbursing the patients. If [Payer] is written before a question, it means that the interviewer will only ask the question if the interviewee is working for or has experience in this department. 

Stimuli: Stimuli refers to the slides that the interviewer will present to the expert before or during the interview. These slides will include visual prompts such as pictures and graphs, hence 'stimuli'.

Probe: This means the interviewer will do a deep dive into this particular point of discussion and will ask follow up questions. 

Value message: This means that the interviewer is asking the expert to rate the effectiveness of several 'value messages' that they could use to explain the value of the medication to their patients. Simply put, a 'value message' is how a doctor sells the effectiveness or benefits of a medication to a patient. 

Value story/value message story flow: This refers to how the doctor would present a value message to a patient, i.e. the flow and order of arguments, pros etc.
