Production Manager (Transcription)

Cadence Translate is seeking a Production Manager for our transcription team to be based in our Beijing office.

In this role, you’ll be primarily responsible for dispatching incoming client requests to our community of transcribers. You will also be responsible for ensuring deadlines are met, assignments are well-documented, and deliverables conform to our clients’ expectations. You will report to our Head of Transcripts, based in LA, and you will be supported by a team of Client Service Associates, based in Beijing.

This role requires you to wear multiple hats. In a typical day, you will:

  • Act as a production manager to ensure multiple requests are routed to the right transcriber and are being completed on-time;

  • Act as an operations coordinator to troubleshoot any scheduling conflicts;

  • Act as a QA professional to make judgments about whether a deliverable meets our clients’ expectations;

  • Act as a recruiter to identify and address any gaps in our transcriber community, particularly among Asian languages;

  • Act as a researcher and collate any prep materials from an assignment into our internal Wiki.

Working hours: Monday-Friday, flexible (8 hours/day) between 9am-9pm


  • Coordinate with LA-based Head of Transcription to ensure timely receipt and return of client transcription requests;

  • Proofread files to ensure quality and adherence to style guide and customer requirements;

  • Deliver completed documents to clients;

  • Recruit and supervise a small team of transcribers available during APAC business hours.

Required Qualifications:

  • Native English speaker;

  • Currently located in Beijing.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of work in either journalism, copywriting, or as a production manager in a language services firm/department;

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, writing, journalism, or equivalent;

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to independently manage many moving parts;

  • Professional and diplomatic communication skills (experience in client service a big plus);

  • A proactive and “tinker-and-teach” mindset;

  • Experience working with project management tools (prior experience working with Salesforce strongly preferred).
