Operations Associate

We are hiring new associates in Singapore! This exciting job allows you to immediately work in the world of hedge funds, private equity firms, venture capital firms, and consulting firms.

Note that due to the COVID-19 crisis, this office location has instituted a mandatory work-from-home policy indefinitely. We are monitoring the situation closely and will be share updated timetables for reopening as the situation develops.

The Operations Associate Role

Our Operations team connects our clients with the linguists and editors that help to power their multilingual due diligence and market research. 

This is an 18-month role, where top performers will be invited to remain at Cadence in either a managerial or individual contributor role. In this fast-paced role, an Operations Associate can expect to “touch” 10-20 projects on any given day.

Generally speaking, as an Operations Associate you'll be responsible for:

  • Managing a pipeline of a variety of client project requests, including interpretation, translation, and transcription;
  • Matchmaking client requests according to translator/interpreter/transcriber availability;
  • Recruiting new translators/interpreters/transcribers as needed;
  • Project management of large-scale translation/interpretation requests;
  • Keeping project and data records updated on Salesforce;
  • Maintaining professional communication standards when coordinating with clients and managing client expectations.

At Cadence, we segment Operations Associate responsibilities into two different categories we’ve labeled sales desk and trading desk. Sales desk responsibilities are primarily client-facing, while trading desk responsibilities are operational. Practically speaking, the two desks form a symbiotic relationship to enable client success, so strong teamwork and communication skills are a must.

Day-to-day sales desk responsibilities might include:

  • Responding to client service requests;
  • Providing quotes for individual client requests;
  • Returning files and linguist post-call summaries to clients;
  • Conducting check-in calls with clients who’ve recently received services from Cadence;
  • Reactivating churned client contacts.

Day-to-day trading desk responsibilities will include:

  • Using Salesforce to review a pipeline of projects and determine task prioritization;
  • Phone or in-person briefings with account managers for project management updates;
  • Using LinkedIn to identify new linguist prospects to enrich our linguist community;
  • Chronicling your interactions in Salesforce.


  • You speak English fluently. Bonus points if you are also fluent in an Asian language;
  • You find passion and value in client service;
  • You're not afraid of the long hours that come with rapid professional development at a seed stage company;
  • You solve problems independently;
  • You are able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
  • You are easy to communicate with;
  • You speak Mandarin.

Ideal background

  • You are a recent college graduate or have 1-2 years work experience in a sales or customer service role;
  • You have entrepreneurial experience either as the founder of a small company or as an early employee at a seed stage venture;
  • You studied finance as an undergraduate or have some exposure to the finance industry;
  • You’ve utilized CRM tools in the past, especially Salesforce;
  • You have experience/familiarity with business in Mainland China.

KPIs and compensation

The KPI for the role shall be based on the profitability of the projects you manage.

Target monthly compensation of SGD 2,500 to SGD 3,500 shall comprise a base salary (90%) and a commission (10%).
